:: it's about love ::

just a bit of "ponderment"...

In amongst all the Easter goodness, some folk like to celebrate the death and then resurrection of Jesus Christ. I personally like to celebrate & remember that hugely impacting moment of history many times throughout the year, but if Easter is the only time someone new might get to have a wee glimpse of the meaning of this angle of life, I'm all for it.

it's actually quite easy to sum up in one word.

It's about

An ancient proverb says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Jesus showed us love in a way that knocks your head spinning. All those years ago, He gave Himself up to be mocked, ridiculed, beaten, and then finally left to hang to His death on a cruel cross.

Why on earth, would anyone do that to themselves?

Love for you, love for me. We've all done bad stuff, and we'd never make it past the inspection point at the Pearly Gates of Heaven. Jesus knew that. It's impossible to be good all the time. So someone has to pay. Naturally, we should. But Jesus stepped in... and said He would take the pain for us. All He asks is that we believe in Him, and don't try to 'earn' our salvation (coz we so couldn't!).

He took the punishment for the sins of the whole wide world that day. I don't know about you, but I feel like the luckiest person on earth to have a friend like that. He just wants us to accept it and say,

(thanks Jesus)
